Debonair Standard Poodles/ Debbi Cole,  CPDT-KA started in 1995 with our first obedience and agility champion Abbie.  We  selectively breed for health, temperament, and the proper poodle conformation. We are also AKC BREEDER OF MERIT !   Standard Poodles have been a part of our lives since 1980 when we acquired our first standard poodle from AKC Breeder and Judge Bobbie Espey as a pet companion.  Jim and I have been actively training dogs since the early 90's.  I was an instructor for Best Paw Forward in Orlando area for over 10 years. We specialize in obedience, therapy dog, agility and conformation showing. I am also one of the certified dog trainers at Dog-Harmony in Santa Rosa Beach Florida where we specialize in clicker training. We are members of APDT(Association of Professional Dog Trainers) and an AKC evaluator for the Puppy Star, CGC & CGCA, and Urban tests(canine good citizen) and Trick Titles. Now that we are retired, we have been devoting most of our time to therapy work with our standard poodles. We have been  members since 2007 with Intermountain Therapy Animals /R.E.A.D.® (reading education assistance dogs) &  Affiliate  TPC/ READing Paws(therapy patient connections) under the direction of our director Merilee Kelley. At present, I am currently a Regional Director for READing Paws in the Northwest Florida Chapter ,  and a licensed Evaluator , Instructor & volunteer for ITA  and R.E.A.D.® as we are very active in agility, obedience, & therapy work with our poodles. Our goal is to produce healthy puppies with wonderful happy temperaments for show,performance, or companion homes. Our dogs  are genetically tested for many genetic diseases such as  hip, elbow, eye,skin, cardiac, thyroid, degenerative myelopathy,  macrothrombocytopenia, hyperuricosuria, dentition,neonatal encephalopathy, bleeding disorders, canine genetic diversity, and any other new health tests as they become available. We have recently added the new U.C. Davis Genetic Diversity Test  for standard poodles to our program. This test is designed to help eliminate autoimmune diseases such as AD & SA by matching up pedigrees for upcoming litters.  (OFA,EYES,,vWD,Thyroid,DM,&NE,CMTP, HUU, PRA-rcd-4, PRA-PRCD,Cardiac, OCD)   We do DNA tests available and also eye exams & thyroid yearly.

Health , structure and temperament of a puppy isn't just dependent on the sire and the dam of the litter, but are dependent on the genes of previous generations as well. As a responsible breeder, I've spent countless hours researching pedigrees,dogs, doing genetic health tests yearly, attending dog related activities and seminars to ensure that the puppies we produce are of high quality, healthy, happy, and sound.
